I love when a classic takes a dip on the fun side.

Delmonico's is a timeless staple in the NYC restaurant scene with some major accolades to boast. Established as the first fine dining restaurant in the country, Delmonico's was also the first on the map to bring diners the option of a private dining room. Add the invention of such classic dishes like Baked Alaska, Lobster Newburg, Chicken a la Keene, and Eggs Benedict to the list by Charles Ranhofer, Chef de Cuisine in 1862 and you've got a restaurant that has lasted generations.

Fast forward to now with Delmonico's Kitchen. I dined at Delmonico's Kitchen this week, a contemporary spin off of Delmonico's, located in the Garment District here in NYC. With dark wood, spacious tables, and photos of daily restaurant life on the wall, I was ready to enjoy some of the classics that have been apart of Delmonico's since the beginning.

As warm freshly baked bread with exceptional butter came to our table, everything on the menu catches your eye. The timeless Delmonico's steaks, Spanish octopus, market fish, and fun sides all pair well together even at lunch time. A lot of my favorites were on this lunch menu as well, but I knew I MUST order the cured bacon and the classic Eggs Benedict Burger. Yes, you read that right, a eggs benedict burger.

Here's What We Dined On:

Billy's House Cured Bacon x Bourbon Aged Maple Glazed

Blue Crab Cake x Maple Horseradish Mustard x Apple Fennel Salad

Classic Benedict Burger x Delmonico's Custom Prime Burger Blend x Truffled Hollandaise x Local Farm Egg, Billy's 18 Hour Slow Roasted Bacon x Toasted English Muffin
Crab Macaroni & Cheese
Crispy Brussel Sprouts x Bacon x Honey x Onion x Sriracha
Baked Alaska
Peanut Butter Cake

Let's all take a minute and lift our hands in praise that Delmonico's Kitchen has this fabulous plate of bacon available for all to consume. Its literally a plate of perfectly smoked, tender, crisp and insanely thick cut bacon, accompanied by a bourbon maple glaze. If the bacon wasn't enough, the eggs benedict burger will do it for you. As this tower of a meal appeared before my eyes, the aroma of the truffled hollandaise let me know it was time to eat fabulously. This burger is like breakfast, brunch, and luxury on one plate. If my medium rare burger couldn't get any better as I sliced into it, a thick slice of 18 hour slow roasted bacon and a fried egg sat on top. Continuing our meal, as we ease into dessert breathing through our noses, we now realized that we may have ordered too much food.
