A NOTE TO MY YOUNGER SELF ON MY 30TH BIRTHDAY

A Letter To My Younger Self, Turning 30, 30th birthday, Christopher Stewart, Eating Fabulously, Eating Fabulously | Food & Lifestyle
So today is my 30th birthday.

I didn't think too much about turning 30 because I didn't think it would come so soon. I was just 25! Everyone has their own coping mechanism with turning 30, but I was happy about it for the most part. Yes I had my moments and I even had a small melt down, but Im excited to start this new chapter. The days leading up to the big day, I started looking back on my younger self and how much I have changed physically and mentally. So, I decided to have a talk with my younger self.

YOUR NAME IS, WELL FABULOUS
Christopher, excuse me Chrissy. You have a strong, powerful name but it's going to take sometime. Your name is different and your literally going to have to grow into it. Mom gave you this name because she knew you would be a beautiful black woman, longer than you would be a baby. But thats just it, your a black woman. She gave you this name so you can get in the door before you walk through the door.  Trust me, mom knew what she was doing when she gave you this name. Later as you get older, more beautiful and more confident, your name will become an important roll in who you are developing to be and who you will finally become. It will get you in the door with your idols and even make some people squirm. Don't worry about them, they aren't important. You go by Chrissy now, but the woman typing this letter to you will only answer to Christopher.

EXCUSE ME, CHEF CHRISTOPHER STEWART
Can you believe everything you said you wanted to do will happen?!? GIRL! The times you were practicing your plating skills with old food at grandma and grandpas house; all the tea parties, all the times you would sit watching Julia Child's, Jacque Pepin, and The Culinary Institute of America on television taking notes would pay off. The day you told your parents the CIA is where you wanted to go to college you never took your eye of that goal. It was a dream and dreams come true. You got in! Your experience at CIA will be a hard and challenging and a front row view of the culinary world that you love.  After CIA, the real restaurant world begins and after a few chefs yelling at you, your thick skin will develop. Thats great because now this thick skin will lead you to some restaurants, and prepare you for a major accomplishment. You will become Executive Chef. 2 weeks before you turn 25 you will get promoted to Executive Chef and your life will change. You will be standing in your dream.

YOUR MILKSHAKE WILL BRING ALL THE BOYS TO THE YARD.
Boys, smoys! Its all about cooking and hanging out right now. Boys are boys and they are there but they aren't on the radar right now. Your going to step into your beauty soon and wow! Your developing into your own. Being comfortable and ok that you are a plus size girl. All of this will add to your beauty and by the time you turn 30 you will know it. You have style and grace. Beauty and brains. Guys will call you beautiful like its your name, and you will believe them.
CONFIDENCE WILL COME, JUST WAIT ON IT.

Although everyone deals with confidence issues, yours never seem to phase you. Yes they are there. Your taller than everyone. Your heavier than the other girls. You stutter badly. But even as a teenager, confidence was never really missing, it just wasn't front and center like it is at 30. Going to college and moving away from the comforts of home, making new friends, being on your own, and speaking up for your self all come into play within the next 10 years.  By the time you are 30, the stuttering will calm down, you will be comfortable in not only your body but just in your self. You'll like who you are and you wont be afraid to show it.

YOUR DOING JUST FABULOUSLY, ACTUALLY.
I'm pretty sure the hardest decision your making right now is how to break curfew on Friday. The next few years after high school graduation will be nothing but fabulous. You will have gotten excepted to your first choice college, met the 2 loves of your life, cooked along side your culinary idols, became executive chef at 25, created your food blog Eating Fabulously, and co-authored a cookbook all by 27
27 though, that's unfortunately when life begins to kick your ass for a couple of years. From 27 to 30, life will suddenly take away your job, your finances, your grandfather, your father and your want to continue in a restaurant kitchen. Having always been a planner, now you find your self with no plan. This will be painful, but its maturing you. Whenever this chaotic time will end in your life, just know that when you emerge from it, you will be a strong woman.

Your on the right path! Wipe the tears away, put on more mascara, and enjoy your fabulous life!

I Love You,
Be You. Be Fab
