In Eating Fabulously news... I dined at Bodega Negra recently during winter NYC Restaurant Week. Its been on my to-go list for a couple of years now, so when I received a "Bodega Negra this week" iMessage I, of course said yessss.
Tucked inside The Dream Hotel  in The Meatpacking District, Bodega Negra is a dark and sexy spin on trendy Mexican cuisine and flare in a chic setting. It was still fairly early by the time we slid into our booth and looked at the menu but the restaurant filled quickly. With sangria on the way, and all the girl talk of the week about to commence, heres what we ordered.

Crispy Pork Belly x Manchamanteles Sauce x Pineapple Plantain Salsa
Braised Oxtail Empanadas x Jalapeno Crema
Pork Belly Tacos
Shrimp & Masa Grits
Black Beans
Yuca Fries
Churros
Sangria

We started off the evening with tons of pork, as any evening should start. The crispy pork belly with plantain salsa was the star at the table as we debated ordering another after we ate the first plate. Pork tacos and oxtail empanadas followed next along with this amazingly delicious green salad hit the table. We started to order another salad as well. I would order a Bodega Negra salad right NOW if this was possible.

A spin on shrimp and grits arrived to the table with crispy masa and perfectly cooked shrimp in a flavorful broth.  The yucca fries shinned bright in my eyes as they were extremely hot, crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. I love yucca fries so anytime I can get my hands on them... well I get my manicured hands on them.

We didn't particularly care for the black beans (still quite flavorful) but these fried churros for dessert?!?!? BABBBYYYYYY I love anything fried, hot, and doughy (i.e. funnel cake!) and these churros came to the table seeking my love and affection.

Once the DJ hit the booth and the music started playing, Bodega Negra instantly became my new favorite restaurant. The food was delicious and I loved everything about the atmosphere. Expect to see me soon Bodega Negra!
