As I always tend to rave about, summer Restaurant Week just ended a few days ago (in selected restaurants, some places have been extended) and as I always say, get out and take advantage of all the deliciousness without breaking the bank. This Restaurant Week, I had the pleasure of dining at A VOCE inside the Time Warner building. I have heard some good things about A VOCE, so accepting the lunch invitation was a no brainer. Dark maple wood floors, and rich textures line the restaurant as you walk into a bright dining room filled with people enjoying their lunches and glasses of wine. The views from the 3rd floor dining room over looking Central park and the partial open kitchen, make your dining experience even better, as you are seated at your table, and the menu's are presented.
A VOCE which is an Italian restaurant, honestly makes you WANT to dine here. The service, presentation, and food go hand in hand, without feeling like you will be working to pay off this lunch for a few weeks.

A large plank of fluffy, buttery piping hot focaccia bread was placed on the table, with a bowl of fresh whipped ricotta, garnished with olive oil, and herbs to get us started. I was already in love because not only do I LOVE bread, I love warm bread.

The Restaurant week menu was pretty filling, but as always, there is a regular must have menu item, and my lunching partners demanded that we get a few things. Here's what we lunched on..

Cassoncini con di Parma - Swiss chard and crescenza filled fried dough/proscuitto di parma

Passato ~ green pea and fava soup/fresh ricotta/mint/lemon

Ravioli - Mushroom filled pasta/parmesean/funghi

Spaghetti alla chittara - mussels/saffron/fennel/chilies

Bistecca - Skirt steak/ grilled peaches/ balsamic

Orata - Grilled Dorade/ heirloom tomatoes/seabeans/capers/ taggiasca olives

Tiramisu - Marscapone/lady fingers/cocoa

For starters, the fried dough filled with swiss chard and crescenza was absolutely sinful. These fluffy fried little pieces of dough were piping hot, and tossed in what seemed to be finely crumbled parmesan. As instructed by the chef, wrap a piece of proscuitto around the fried dough, and wait for your eyes to roll back in your head, because it will happen. I haven't had a single piece of food this beautifully crafted and simple in a long time. Our entire meal that followed, was also outstanding, cooked to perfection, and also perfectly seasoned. Closing the meal, even the tiramisu, was honestly the best I have ever tasted so far. I basically want to live at A VOCE, and if I cant live here, at least I want to dine her 2x a week for the next month.

Luckily, you fabulous eaters can do lunch here and try the Restaurant Week lunch only menu for $25, due to it being extended at A VOCE until August 30th. This is the best $25 you will spend fabulous eaters! I can not wait to come back to A VOCE for dinner and brunch. Its truly worth trying again and again.
