brunch, NYC, unlimited, unlimited mimosa's, Philip Marie

I think  I love eating brunch more than I love eating dinner. Well maybe ..I love both equally. So of course I jumped on the opportunity to go to brunch to celebrate my fashion friend Nijah's birthday at Philip Marie down by the MeatPacking District in lower Manhattan recently. Even though I had to work in my own restaurant later that night, who would pass up friends, a birthday celebration, and Philip Marie's $25 unlimited mimosa or bloody mary brunch? This small restaurant is tiny, but it has more length that width. Our large group was seated quickly, and from looking around, this place accommodates large parties. A lot of the restaurant was taken up by happy bruncher's with 6+ at their tables. The mimosa's and bloody mary's began to fill our tables quickly and the laughter and eating began. The menu had classic brunch items such as eggs Benedict  sandwiches, pancakes, and fruit plates. I couldn't cover the whole table but heres what my end brunched on:

~French Toast w/ a side of eggs with cheese
~3 Crab Cake Benedict's w/ a side of pancakes
~ Grilled chicken and Brie sandwich with Pesto and Fries

Now heres my thing. Although I LOVE brunch, I do not like the "classic" brunch eggs benedict. Its something about the poached egg and hollandaise sauce that I just cant seem to handle. Luckily Philip Marie recognized my secret fears and cries as they allowed me to enjoy their crab cake "benedict" but! scramble my eggs, add cheese, and put the hollandaise SOS . (a sigh of relief)  All was well in the world as the mimosas flowed, eggs benedict were devoured and pictures were taken. My only complaint with Philip Marie is that the restaurant seemed to be extremely loud. I found myself yelling to my friends at the same table. Maybe it was the small space or the numerous larger tables....or the unlimited mimosa's kicked in?
